Volunteer rights

Rise Above Volunteers will be afforded the following rights when engaged by Rise Above:

Be provided with sufficient training Be managed in accordance with equal opportunity and anti-discrimination legislation
Be adequately covered by insurance
Be given accurate and truthful information about Rise Above.
Be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses (other than travel expenses) incurred on behalf of Rise Above
Be given a copy of Rise Above’s Volunteer Policy and any other policy that affects your service
Volunteers will not fill a position previously held by an employee however where opportunities allow, a volunteer may opt in to provide support to the Rise Above Office staff to fulfil unpaid work to meet short to medium term demand. The engagement of volunteers in this capacity will be authorised by the CEO who will determine timeframes and communicate detail of the activities and responsibilities attaching to them.
Volunteers will not do the work of paid employees during industrial disputes
Be given clear tasks and expectations
Have access to the Rise Above Grievance Policy
Be provided with orientation to Rise Above
Have your confidential and personal information dealt with in accordance with the principles of the Privacy Act 1988
