Whilst we celebrate Capital Chemist Group’s contribution to Rise Above it would be remiss of us not to acknowledge the contribution they make to the community in general. The Group’s Community Program is contributing $400,000 per annum to well deserving charities and community groups, they are truly a 'Community Champion' for all residents of Canberra and the region.
The partnership started with a conversation over a cuppa with our founder, Yvonne Cuschieri at her home. Yvonne was overwhelmed at the offer of $10,000 support from the partners of the Group. Imagine how Yvonne would feel today knowing that we are celebrating over $1,000,000 in cash contributions to support the cancer patients registered with Rise Above.
Not only does Capital Chemist Group support Rise Above through their donations, but they also host our largest workplace giving program, donation boxes and tap machines in their pharmacies and they are a connector for our charity with other organisations in the Canberra Region.
To put the financial contribution into context the funds provided would have funded the food and fuel vouchers we have issued to cancer patients for the past 4 years, an amazing contribution given we have supported over 2000 individuals and their families during this period.
The support of the Capital Chemist Group has been integral to the longevity of Rise Above and without that support thousands of cancer patients would have endured a journey which was harder than it needed to be.
In addition to their philanthropic activities the Group has 21 pharmacies in the ACT and 23 in regional NSW all working to improve each person’s health and wellbeing.
The last 12 months have been tough for most households and those undergoing treatment have felt the rise in cost of living more than most. Rise Above’s financial support has increased by over 83% from the same time last year.
