Over 2400 locals are diagnosed with cancer each year, this number does not include the family unit that is also impacted - emotionally and financially. By fundraising for Rise Above, the funds raised stay local and go directly to patients and families struggling with the cost of cancer.

Cancer isn’t just physically debilitating, it puts added emotional and financial pressure on individuals and their family. Help Rise Above support locals by donating to my fundraising page!

Only a month to go before embarking on the Kosciusko all-day trek to raise money for people struggling with cancer. Ten of us are doing the trek including a woman with stage 4 cancer. I feel honoured to be part of the group and to reunite with team members who trekked Killimanjaro 10 years ago to raise funds for Oxfam to help prevent spread of HIV in South Africa. Whatever we can do to support people and reduce their suffering is meaningful and valuable and deeply appreciated.

Thanks so much everyone for your amazing generosity - have reached the $1300 mark and am inspired by everyone's support for people facing cancer in their lives. Much appreciated and is lovely to be part of a growing group of people who want to help others in need of support who are facing cancer with little support.
I will take photos and share them - I did that walk about 12 years ago on a wild windy day and got blown off my feet! There were ice sheets even though it was Summer! Much love!

After my brother Philip died recently from cancer following over 3 years of treatment, I heard about this fundraiser for people living with cancer who need support. It is in my brother's memory that I commit myself to this fundraiser and this trek across Mount Koscuiszko with companions form 10 years ago when we trekked to the summit of Killimanjaro to raise funds for HIV/AIDS prevention in South Africa.
